Carol June (Ricketts) Snyder

Carol June Snyder, 85, of Crawfordsville, IN, formerly of Woodbury, PA, passed away on January 23, 2024. She was born on June 13, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois, daughter of the late Kenneth G. and Dorothy G. (Scott) Ricketts. On August 8, 1964 in Naperville, IL; she was united in marriage to Rev. George H. Snyder.

Carol was a graduate of Oswego High School, Class of 1957; received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1961 from North Central College, Illinois. She was an elementary school teacher of over 40 years, specializing in remedial reading. Carol enjoyed spending time with family, relationships with people, service as a minister's wife, and the many children she taught and tutored. She was an avid reader and book collector who enjoyed family genealogy, art, scrapbooking, and gardening. Carol was a member of the Mace Methodist Church and the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Her faith in Jesus Christ was her anchor and granted her purpose, love, peace and strength.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Kevin Snyder; a brother, Charles Ricketts; a sister, Lila Elliott.

Surviving are, her brother, Thomas Ricketts; sister, Mary Unruh; daughter, Laurale (Snyder) Royer (Edward), of Waveland; son, Loren Snyder (Meggan), of Platte City, MO; grandchildren, Andrew Royer, Rachel (Royer) Eickmeier, Landon Snyder, Weston Snyder, Haydon Snyder, Eleanor Fanning, Drew Fanning, Morgan Snyder, and Graydon Snyder, as well as Valerie Fanning (formerly Snyder), widow of son Kevin, and her husband, Joe, of Wamego, KS.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at New Enterprise Church of the Brethren with a funeral service following on Thursday at 9:00 am with Pastor David Grimes officiating. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park; Altoona PA. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Mace United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Carol's name can be made to New Enterprise Church of the Brethren or Snakespring Valley Church of the Brethren. Arrangements by Stone Funeral Home; Woodbury, PA and assisted by Sanders Funeral Care of Crawfordsville, IN.
