Herbert Allen Franklin

Herbert A. Franklin, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, January 22, 2024 at home. He was born on November 23, 1937 to Herbert and Evelyn (Davidson) Franklin in Crawfordsville. Herb married Stella Black on August 10, 1957 in Crawfordsville, spending over 65 loving years together until her passing in 2022.

He served in the Indiana National Guard for 3 years in Crawfordsville. Herb worked at Kiger Bakery in Lafayette and retired from Dobb's Painting in Lafayette in 2002. He enjoyed fishing and camping, especially at Charlotte Rose in Hillsboro. Herb and Stella loved bowling with friends and family. They could also be found playing penny slots at the casino in Anderson and across the country during travels. Herb also enjoyed playing BINGO and cards.

Herb is survived by his 4 children, Edward Franklin (Sharon) of Apple Valley, CA, Marie Kirkpatrick (Ron Benassi) of Crawfordsville, Daniel Franklin of Newton and James Franklin of Centerpoint; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brother, William "Bill" Franklin of Crawfordsville; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Stella; and siblings, Carl, Darwin, John and Delores Franklin.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating.
