Mary Elizabeth (Kerns) Maxwell

Mary Elizabeth (Kerns) Maxwell, age 80 of Crawfordsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at home while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Westpoint, Indiana on February 6, 1941 to the late Claude & Frona Mae (Baxley) Kerns.

Mary graduated from Waynetown High School in 1959 and married the love of her life, Marion K. Maxwell on May 22, 1960. She worked at R.R. Donnelley's for a few years, then worked as a teacher's aide at North Montgomery High School for 13 years and Crawfordsville High School for 10 years. She enjoyed wood burning crafts, traveling, taking walks, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Marion Maxwell of Crawfordsville; two children, Mark (Connie) Maxwell of Ohio and Marla (Scott) Bachert of Rensselaer; four grandchildren, Andy Maxwell of Alaska, Meaghan (David) Anderson of Ohio, Kayla (Alex) Anderson of Whitestown, and Katie Bachert of Battle Ground; four great grandchildren, Brinley, Brecken, Braya, Aylitah; a sister, Betty Jo (Keith) Stevens of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold "Bill" Kerns.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St, in Crawfordsville on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 4:00pm EST - 7:00pm EST. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 11:00am EST with Pastor Dave Bowers officiating.
