Alen Dean Hinds, age 72 of Waynetown, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette after a short battle with COVID. He was born in Indianapolis on November 23, 1948 to Robert Dean & Marguerite Lee (Parish) Hinds.
Alen graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis. On October 17, 1982 he married the love of his life, Debra Polley, who survives. He was a mechanic for many years and then retired from Raybestos after 16 years. He was a simple man that enjoyed staying on the farm and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and working on the farm.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debra of Waynetown; his mother, Marguerite Hinds of Indianapolis; a son, Robert Allen Hinds of Brownsburg; a special nephew, Stephen McKnight of Thorntown, whom Alen raised; two sisters, Kay Hinds and Mary (John Stoughton) Hinds, both of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hinds; a daughter, Megan McCallister Hinds, a grandson, Devic Carter Addler.
Visitation will be at Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road, in Waynetown on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 1:30pm till the time of the funeral service at 4:30pm with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating.
