Alene McLaughlin

Mrs. Alene M. "Toots" McLaughlin, 91, Crawfordsville, passed away at her daughter's home on Friday, October 7, at 8:30 AM. She was born March 24, 1920 in Clifton, New Jersey, to Albert and Charlotte (Glattly) Vollinger. She married Jack S. McLaughlin on January 11, 1943. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2007.

Mrs McLaughlin had been a telephone operator for New Jersey Bell and had owned the Holiday Inn Gift Shop at the Holiday Inn in Crawfordsvillle. She participated in many clubs and organizations and did volunteer work.

She is survived by her daughter: Nancy (Tim) Outcalt, Crawfordsville. Also surviving is a brother: Floyd (Rae) Vollinger, Springhill, Florida; grandchildren: Amber (Jason) Johnson, Fishers, Indiana, and Cary Pruett, Crawfordsville; great grandchildren: Jessa Clair, Jude I., and Josie Elaine Johnson; nieces: Beth Vollinger and Linda Meisch, and nephew: Jack McLaughlin.

Cremation was selected with a Memorial Service to be held on Thursday, October 13, at 6:30 PM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St, Crawfordsville. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM. A family committal service will be held at Oak Hill North Cemetery at a later date.
