Mr. Alvin A. "Arnie" Ray, Jr., 45, Crawfordsville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 22, at 10:35 PM, in the St. Elizabeth Franciscan Hospital. He was born January 20, 1967, in Corbin, Kentucky, to Alvin A., Sr. and Hazel M. (Williams) Ray. He married Beth Ann Benge. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Mr. Ray had worked at the Wal Mart Optical Lab. He had attended Southmont High School; was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and enjoyed fishing and working with computers.
He is survived by his children: Kayleigh B. Ray, New Market; his son: Eli A. Martin, Ladoga; and his step-daughter: Courtney Swazay, Crawfordsville. Also surviving is his father, Crawfordsville; his sisters: Saundra (Eugene) McClure, Crawfordsville; Linda (Stan) Himes, Crawfordsville; Brenda (David) Noe, Manchester, Tennessee; Theresa (Rusty) McIntyre, Lake Holiday; Regina (Jeff) Hiatt, Muncie; Tonya (Wyatt) Qualls, Crawfordsvillle; his brother: Paul (Pati) Ray, Lexington, Kentucky; special
friends: Greg Williams, New Market, and T. J. Dowell, Crawfordsville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wfe, he was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, James Ray.
Cremation was selected with a Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, September 29, at 4:00 PM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with Tom Swinford officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
