Amber Rae Smith, age 50, of Indianapolis received her Heavenly crown on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 after passing in the home she shared with her sister (what she called "her pack"). She was born on November 14, 1970 in Crawfordsville, the firstborn daughter of Gary Smith and Rita (White) Arthur.
Amber graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1989. She worked at Amerit Fleet Solutions as an Emergency Generator Maintenance Coordinator for the western United States region. She was well known for providing outstanding professionalism, dedication, and customer service in every job she held. She loved sharing God's majesty through her photography, traveling (or as she called it, "Vagabonding"), flying old planes, anything Disney, old cars, trains, writing poems, captioning photography, writing novels and short stories, empty country roads, exploring old towns, horseback riding, all things vintage, prayer warrioring, and designing artistic and unique fashion creations. She also volunteered driving rescue pets to their "furever" homes, and even adopted a wolf at Wolf Park in Battleground, Indiana. One of her biggest passions was her rescue dog, Akiko. Akiko was her adventuring companion along with her sis, mom, and niece.
She loved life and exploring and continually improved the lives of all who knew her through kind words, actions, and genuine encouragement. She hoped that people would show kindness to one another and stop and smell the roses. She was present with those around her and showed God's love to others.
Amber is survived by her mom, Rita (Rob) Arthur; her "twin" sister April (Jammie) Stanbary; her beloved niece, Autumn "Thel" Stanbary, and her precious pup, Akiko Kiddo Smith.
Amber was preceded in death by her dad, Gary; grandparents, Bill & Betty White, and Gordon Smith; and her aunt Becki Matlock.
