Anita Maxine (Lang) Coon, age 100, of rural Veedersburg passed away at 6:45 am on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Cumberland Pointe Nursing Home in West Lafayette. She was born in Stonebluff, IN on November 18, 1914 to the late Guy and Kathryn (Briles) Lang.

Maxine graduated from Veedersburg High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Indiana State University. On September 4, 1943 she married Claude George William Coon, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1988. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years at Veedersburg School, Coal Creek Central, and Southeast Fountain Elementary. She was a life-long teacher even after retirement and enjoyed quilting and knitting.

She is survived by two sons, John Guy (wife-Melissa) Coon of Hillsboro and Donald Ray (wife-Donna) Coon of West Lafayette; a daughter, Sharla Kay Coon of York, PA; a sister, Mona Harbrueger of CA; eight grandchildren, Christopher (wife-Carly), Cameron, Kimberly (husband-Alex), Kristina, Chad (wife-Dilenna), Craig (wife-Christy), Kendall (wife-Jennifer), and Alicia (husband-Dan) and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude; and two sisters, Judith Maltsberger and Doris Jean Clark.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00pm on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wingate with Pastor Alan Sparks officiating.
