Mrs. Anita Sue "Susie" Smith, 66, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, March 29th, at 2:59 PM, in the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born October 13th, 1948, in Lafayette, to Scott Delmar and Ruth Marie (Sanders) Nicoson. She married Robert L. Smith on October 4th, 1986, in Crawfordsville. He survives.

Mrs. Smith was a Homemaker; a 1966 graduate of Crawfordsville High School; loved to fish, do cross-stitch, crocheting, and crafts. She loved animals and watching the eagles at the lake.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Lee Anne (Scott) Lehr, Lafayette; and her son: Robert Brian Smith at home. Also surviving is her "Second Mom", Joan Nicoson, Crawfordsville; sisters: Patti (Ted) Ray, Crawfordsville; Donna (Les) Eggleston and Caryl (Larry) Eggleston, both of Rockville; brothers: Donnie (Reda) Hubbard, Wayne (Sandy) Hubbard, and Steve (Sherry) Nicoson, all of Crawfordsville; and her grandson: Jason Todd Lehr. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother: Robert Nicoson.

A "Celebration of Susie's Life" will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, at 2:00 PM at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Scott Lehr officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the service time. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family requests memorials to be made to: American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 E. 92nd St., New York, New York 10128-6804 (aspca.org), or to the: Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
