Ann Early Powers, 85, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Sunrise of Old Meridian in Carmel, Indiana. She managed Alzheimer's disease with determination, dignity and an enduring sense of humor.
Born May 18, 1931 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Robert and Opal Early, she is survived by children Janet, Geneva, Illinois, Joe (Barbara), Chatham, New Jersey, and Elizabeth Todd-Miller, Lebanon, Indiana. She is also survived by grandchildren Molly Todd, Heather Todd, Ellie Miller, and Jack, Tessa, Charles (Chip), and Grace Powers, and great granddaughter Olivia Sullivan. She is also survived by Mary Johnson, her sister, and Martha Lewellen, her aunt. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Since 2009, she was lovingly assisted in her care and well-being by Connie Morrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd and son David.
She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee. Married on September 25, 1949 at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church in Crawfordsville, she was active in church and later very active at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Carmel Tri Kappa, Carmel Historical Society, Carmel Clay Education Foundation and was active in local politics.
Services will be Saturday, August 20th, 2016 in both Crawfordsville and Indianapolis/Carmel. There will be calling at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 South Washington, Crawfordsville, from 10:30 to 11:30 am. There will be an 11:30 am service at Powers-Priebe followed by graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a memorial service at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 E 106th Street, Indianapolis, at 3:30, followed by friends and family fellowship.
