Arthur Allen Merrill

d. August 5, 2016

Art" Merrill, 76 of Crawfordsville, went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016. He was born November 29, 1939 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was the son of the late Oscar and Gladys (Wade) Merrill.

He loved the Lord and was actively involved in the ministry of his local church (East Side Baptist Church). Followed very closely by his love for his family. He was a husband, father, and grandfather. He worked tirelessly to provide for them in many ways. He worked at Donnelley's and retired after 40+ years of service. He was also a mechanical engineer, concrete worker, block layer, carpenter, plumber, etc. etc. There was no task that he would not "attempt" to get done. His love for others extended far beyond the church and family. He knew no strangers or the word "No", when someone was in need. He was always ready to lend encouragement, even if he had no idea who they were. He delivered Meals On Wheels and loved being able to help others. This carried over to every part of his life. He was a member of "Toastmasters", which was very appropriate because "talking" was not just a pastime but a "passion". He was also an avid golfer and bowler. There was evidence (trophies) of this scattered through out the house. He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He loved working in Romania with his daughter Jody and her husband Robert (E.B.F.). He was politically active and a member of The Tea Party.

Surviving are his wife, Mary(Simms) Merrill of Crawfordsville; three children, Anthony (Dianne) Merrill, Sindi (David) Bixler, Jody (Robert) Frye; Sibling Nancy (Larry) Riddell; grandchildren Robert (Daniella) Frye, William (Alexandra) Frye, Becca Brown, Tiffany Merrill, Tanner Bixler, Randy Frye, and Jacob Brown.

Memorial Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Tuesday August 9, 2016 at East Side Baptist Church, 2000 E. Traction Road, Crawfordsville. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at East Side Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Whicker officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
