Avalene Elizabeth Harrison (Hutson) was born on August 9th, 1929 in Marshall, Indiana. She
was the oldest of five children born to Roy and Lula Mae Hutson (Elam). Avalene graduated
from Waveland High School in the Class of ’47. She was a loving and dedicated farmer’s wife
to Silas Harrison, as well as an extremely hard worker her entire life, raising hogs and cattle,
being a top seller for multiple department stores, working at Harrison Steel Mill, and antique
dealing. Her passions in life included spending time with and cooking for her family and
friends. In addition, she was an active member of the Millcreek and Troy Home Ec. Club,
Eastern Star (66 years), International Carnival Glass Association, and International Association
of R.S. Prussia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Silas, of fifty years and siblings Lela Cooper, Roy Jr.
Hutson, and Charles Hutson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Harry
“Richard” Flowers, granddaughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Flowers, sister and brother-in-law,
Delores and Leonard Speas, sister-in-laws, Mary Hutson and Dorothy Harrison, along with
many beloved cousins, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
Avalene peacefully passed away on May 14th, 2018. Her service will be held on Saturday, May
19th, visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the funeral preceding at 12 p.m., at Sanders Funeral
Care, 203 S. 1st St., Kingman, Indiana 47952. The burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery in
Wallace, Indiana. Avalene will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and eternally in our hearts.
