Barbara Lee Terrell Craig, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Ben Hur Home.
Barbara, the oldest of five children, was born October 11, 1919, in Martin County, Indiana, to Walter and Pansy Terrell. On August 20, 1938, she married James W. (Bill) Craig at Bedford, Indiana; they lived most of their married life in Fillmore, Indiana, and enjoyed many winters in Winter Haven, Florida, during their retirement years. Her husband of over 55 years passed away June 8, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Ernie) Hopkins of Crawfordsville, son James A. Craig (Vividana) of Athens, Alabama, grandchildren Kristen (Christopher) Ervin and Darren Chadd, both of Crawfordsville, sisters Betty Quackenbush, Bedford, Indiana, and Josephine Freeman, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Brennan Pool, Chadd Ervin, Avery Chadd and Evann Chadd and step-grandson, Pat (Lauri) Stine and stepgreat-granddaughters, Elizabeth Stine and Emily Stine. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband, brothers John Terrell and Walter H. Terrell preceded her in death.
Barbara was a graduate of Fayetteville, Indiana, High School in 1937 and Central Beauty College in 1962 and for several years had the BC Beauty Salon in her home. She had also worked at First Citizens Bank and Farm Credit Association in Greencastle. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church in Crawfordsville, attending faithfully until she left her home to live in an assisted living facility in 2009.
Friends may call at Powers and Priebe Funeral Home from 9:00-11:00 Saturday morning, March 15 with the services at 11:00 with Pastor Isaac Zull officiating. Interment will be at the Fillmore, Indiana, cemetery at 3:00 P.M.
