Mrs. Barbara Maxine (Ferguson) Hockersmith, 75, Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, November 12th, at 3:34 PM, in the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born on December 7th, 1938, near Bowers Station in Montgomery County, to Walter L. and Ruby (White) Ferguson.
She was a retiree of Montgomery Savings Association but was employed within 1 block of the Court House for 46 years. She was a 1956 Graduate of Crawfordsville High School; an active member of the Whitesville Christian Church since 1948; she was also active in: Volunteers for Mental Health of Montgomery County; Fish; St. Clare Auxilliary Pink Lady; Country Friend Home Extension Club; Crawfordsville American Legion Auxilliary; Crawfordsville Ladies of the Moose; Crawfordsville Eagles Auxilliary; and several Euchre Clubs.
She is survived by companion: Charles Homsher; also: Dale (Sandy) Hockersmith; Brenda (Mark) Needham; Alan Homsher; Wayne (Marcia) Homsher; and Richard Bell; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Clifford; a son: Dean; sisters: Ruie Long; Christine Hall; Emogene Abney; Darlene Deckard; and a brother: Charles Ferguson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, November 17th, at the Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Rd., with Rev. Michael Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery near Waveland. Friends may call at the Church on Sunday, November 16th, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Whitesville Christian Church or to the charity of your choice.
