Basil L. Dulin, age 91, of Crawfordsville passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Lane House in Crawfordsville. He was born in New Market on September 5, 1927 to the late Homer & Nellie (Kern) Dulin.
Basil graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1945 and then proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy as a petty officer. On August 27, 1949 he married the love of his life, Clara “Sadie” (Turner) Dulin, who survives.
Basil worked as a machinist for Steel Industries from 1947 to 1971 and was self-employed at Quality Machine Tool & Die in Indianapolis until retirement. He was a member of the Waynetown United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #50, Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, Murat Shine, and was a life-time member of the Byron Cox Post #72 American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, restoring his old tractors, and was always making things. He organized many church events and the big dinners. He was a fix-it man and could fix anything and was always busy and working.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sadie; a son, Gary (Jackie) Dulin of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Teresa (Mike) Boardman of Florida and Linda Dulin of Indianapolis; a brother, Richard Lee Dulin of Indianapolis; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne Dulin; a brother, Sterling Eugene Dulin; four sisters, Vernice Cox, Aline Carrell, Sandy Morris, and Oveta Turpin and an infant sister, Carrie May Dulin.
Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordville on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating and military rites by the Legion 72 Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st Street Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
