Basil Leon Jones

Mr. Basil Leon Jones, age 80, passed  away at his home in Crawfordsville on Saturday November 30, 2019. Basil was born on January 9, 1939 at Wallace, IN the son of Oscar Carl and Vivian (nee Reed) Jones and graduated from Wallace High School. He proudly served in the US Army and Army reserves from June 1962 to June 1968 and achieved the rank of PFC E3. Basil married his wife Charlotte Ann Brewer Jones on October 23, 1965 and had 42 wonderful years with her before she passed away on August 10, 2017. They made their home in Waynetown before retirement and then in Crawfordsville most recently. Basil spent many years working for R.R. Donnelley and Sons and retired from the position of material handler.

Basil is survived by his daughters; Cindy & Stephen Gouckenour of Carbon, IN and Tina Jones and her companion James Ross of New Richmond, In. He will also be missed by his brother; Charles Jones of Waynetown, IN, sister; Roberta Brock of Crawfordsville, IN and sister in law Birdia Jones of Darlington, IN, 11 Grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Basil was preceded in death by his wife, 1 brother, 2 sisters and his granddaughter Natasha.

As per his wishes cremation was chosen and his ashes will be buried in a graveside service at 2:00pm Friday December 6th at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military honors.
