Mr. Bennie E. Genter, 79, Crawfordsville, went to be with Jesus on January 20th, at 4:52 AM, in the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born August 7th, 1936, in Tulare, California, the son of Merle and Mary Genter. He left behind his loving wife of 42 years, Ruth, who he married on May 30th, 1972, in Burbank, California.

Ben spent most of his life living in Sunland, California. He worked as an Inspector for H.R.Textron, Pacoima, California. He retired in 2003 and relocated to Crawfordsville in 2009. He was a member of the Woodland Heights Christian Church and was a 1955 graduate of Tulare High School.

Ben enjoyed his home and family and old cars. His favorite hobbies were woodworking and putting thousands of puzzle pieces together and framing them. He was a good Christian friend to all who met him and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-daughter: Rachael (Martin) Smith, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; step-son: Randolph (Susan Weber) Colon, Crawfordsville; a sister: Dixie (Lowell) Tate, Palmdale, California; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son: Raul Colon, Jr.; his brothers: Merle and Michael Genter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 26th, at the Woodland Heights Christian Church, 468 N. Woodland Heights Dr., Crawfordsville, with Pastor Steve Wilke officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from Noon until the service time. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Woodland Heights Christian Church honoring his memory would be appreciated.
