Benny Joseph Hicks

Benny Joseph Hicks, age 78 of Tangier, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Parke County on June 24, 1942 to the late Perley & Nellie (VanDevender) Hicks.

Benny graduated from Turkey Run High School in 1960 and married Lynette Burke on August 22, 1998. Throughout the years he worked as a welder and worked as a millwright at Hyster for 30 years. He was a member of the Prairie Creek Baptist Church; an avid hunter and fisherman; worked with horses with his dad; and loved his dogs; Prince, Gracie, Patches, Susie, Coppertone and Sweet Pea.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Lynette; two sons, Joseph J. (Debra) Hicks and James Patrick Hicks; a daughter, Andrea Hicks; a step son, Jason Crawford; two step daughters, Heather Crawford-Eaton and Lura Cathleen (Ryan Billeter) Burke; a sister, Ruthann (Eugene) Norman; ten grandchildren, Clinton, Tiffany, Dakota, Trenton, Serina, Manuel, Kaylynn, Richard, Summer and Allura; and six great-grandchildren, Colby, Parker, Aida, Rhythem, Augustus, and Waylon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Randy Eaton; a grandson, Jayden; and his many dogs.

Cremation was chosen with a memorial service at Prairie Creek Baptist Church, 2434 S. Kingman Road, Veedersburg on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Loren Stephens officiating. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at www.sandersfuneralcare.com
