Mrs. Betty Lou Lester, 80, Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, March 26th, at 9:00 PM in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born August 11th, 1935, in Montgomery County, to Lawrence and Chrystal Lucille (Brown) Hester. She married Darrell R. Lester in Waveland on February 7th, 1953. He survives.

Betty had been a Sales Clerk for Loebs, JCPenney, Milligans Flowers, and Ace Hardware. She also had been the Cafeteria Manager for Walnut Township Elementary School and a Secretary for Town Edge Motors. She was a 1953 graduate of New Market High School; a member of the New Market Christian Church and the Double Duzzens Club; was a Colts, Pacers, and I.U. fan; and in her free time enjoyed making crafts and attending craft shows with her daughter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Cindy (Roy) Smith, New Market; and Dennis (Julie) Lester, Crawfordsville. Also surviving is her brother: Basil (Alice) Hester, New Market; grandchildren: Adam (Robin) Smith; Anthony (Rhonda) Smith; Megan (Andrew) Taylor; and Sarah (Tim) Joly; great-grandchildren: Cody Smith, Brieanna Smith, Ashley Smith, and Chelsey Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Public Graveside Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 30th, in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market, with Pastor Tami Mussche officiating. There will not be a public visitation. Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
