Bill Eugene Collins

Bill Eugene Collins, age 83 of Crawfordsville, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Tuscola Health Care Center in Tuscola, IL. He was born on August 22, 1938 to the late Lex & Mable (Davis) Collins of Waveland, IN.

Bill graduated from Waveland High School in 1957 and served seven years in the Indiana National Guard. On June 2, 1957 he married the love of his life, Ruth Surface, who survives. Bill worked at R.R. Donnelley for 40 years in the art department and was later a supervisor. Upon retirement he worked alongside his wife at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 14 years as a division commander. He was a member of The Vine Church in Crawfordsville. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, gardening and caring for his cats.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Collins; his children, Ginger Collins and Marla (Tony) Crouch; grandchildren Nicole (Jason) Bockting of Indianapolis, IN; Stephanie Wethington of Crawfordsville, IN; David Wethington of Lebanon, IN; Caleb (Nicole) Crouch of Lynn Haven, FL; Cameron (Christy) Crouch of Mahomet, IL. He is survived by 13 great grandchildren Rylin, Molly, Peyton, Andrew, Madison, Abigail, Gage, Aidan, Aubrey, Ellaina, Hunter, Jared and Olivia. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob Collins; and a sister, Patricia Poynts.

Visitation will be at The Vine Church, 1004 Wayne Road, Crawfordsville, IN on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Tony Crouch and Kyle Strauser officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Vine Church. Sanders-Priebe Funeral Care is entrusted with final arrangements.
