Bill Long

Bill Long, age 84 of Kingman, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Bill was born in Marshall, Indiana on September 24, 1933 to the late Ora Virgil and Mary Ann (Scott) Long.

Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1966 and then served in the Indiana National Guard until he retired. On April 22, 1955 he married the love of his life, Violet Rose (Lewis) Long, who preceded him in death on March 16, 2015. Bill retired from RR Donnelley after 22 years and then worked as a cashier at the Crawfordsville County Market for 12 years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing his guitar, spending time with his family and was a member of the Kingman American Legion.

Bill is survived by one daughter, Anita Lambert, of Kingman; four sons, Dennis (Annette) Long, of Ohio, Michael Long, of Lafayette, David (Carmen) Long, of Kingman and Tom (Kathy) Long, of Crawfordsville; one brother, Danny (Donna) Long of Lafayette; five sisters, Kate Moyer of Kingman, Florence Lillie of Oregon, Iris Hopkins of Waveland, Beverly (Joe) Franks of Florida, Vida Larson of Arizona; 9 grandchildren, Brandon, Tara, Tanya, Elliott, Christian, Danielle, Heather, Brittany, and Brian; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet; four brothers, Joe, Roy, Larry, Warren; one sister, Mary Lou; and twin great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S. 1st Street in Kingman on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 11:00 am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Steve Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Freedom Cemetery with military rites.
