Mr. Billy Joe Fulwider, 80, New Market, passed away Monday, November 2nd, at 6:38 PM in the I.U. Arnett Lafayette Hospital. He was born June 30th, 1935, in Crawfordsville to Joseph and Fern Rosilie (McMullen) Fulwider. He married Maxine Lay on November 8th, 1958, in Advance. She survives.
Billy retired in 1995 after 40 years with R. R. Donnelleys, where he had been a Hoist Driver. He attended Waveland Schools; was a Charter Member of the New Hope Christian Church; he was a Veteran of the Indiana National Guard in Crawfordsville where her served for 4 years and also served for 4 years in U. S. Army Reserves. He had been active with the Fulwider Family Singers for many years; served as a Red Coat; was a member of the Radio Control Airplane Club; enjoyed riding his recumbent bicycle, doing woodworking, and being with his grandkids.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Robin (Ted) Tague, and Tim (Suzi) Fulwider, both of New Market. Also surviving are his brothers: John "Fizz" (Ruth Ann) Fulwider, Rockville; George Fulwider, Johnson City, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 6:00 PM Friday, November 6th, at the New Hope Christian Church, 2746 US 231 South, Crawfordsville, with Revs. Jeff Keller and Mike Whitaker officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service with a family committal service in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery being held at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00 PM until the service time. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Christian Church.
