Carl Andrew Duncan

Carl Andrew Duncan moved to his eternal home with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. He was 85. Carl Duncan was born December 9, 1935, near Dugger, IN, to Dawson Glenn Duncan and Dorothy J. McCammon. Most of his childhood and adult life were spent in Kingman, IN. He attended Kingman schools and graduated from Kingman High School in 1953. On December 23, 1956, Carl and Nancy Ione Overpeck were married by Rev. Rapson in the Kingman EUB Church. Carl and Nancy shared 64 years of marriage, two children, one granddaughter, and a great grandson.

Mr. Duncan gave his life to Jesus Christ on August 19, 1956, at the age of 21. He was a dedicated member and board member of Kingman EUB Church, later Kingman Community Church. In his later years, he attended Waterman Baptist Church.

Gifted in math and mechanics, Carl spent his career and free time working in his community and serving others. As a young man, he worked with his father at Morgan Coal Company. He later joined the staff at Kingman Hardware working for his parents-in-law. Carl and Nancy served Kingman and surrounding communities for over 30 years owning and operating Kingman Hardware. Carl retired from the hardware business in 1996. Carl served on the board of Overpeck Gas and Transport Companies. In addition to his church, Carl was a member of the Kingman Lions Club and the Millcreek Volunteer Fire Department. He and Nancy spent winters in Naples, Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering in the garage, helping neighbors, gardening, maintaining his farm ground and woods, and fishing.

Carl was a dedicated husband and a great father and grandfather to his daughters and granddaughter. He taught them the value of hard work and to appreciate God's blessings. Carl and his productive, endless energy will be missed by his loved ones and his community.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife, Nancy, his daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Keith Yerkes and Cara and Dale Ruark, his granddaughter and her husband, Sara Ione and Cole Martin, and a great grandson, Connor Martin. Also surviving are his sisters, Margaret Henley, Rose Mary (Gene) Barragree, and Edith (Dean) Rush, a brother, Jack (Carole) Duncan, brother-in-law, Rodney (Pam) Overpeck, 7 nephews, 7 nieces, and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, a step-father, Gerald Jones, a brother-in-law, Roger Henley, and his parents-in-law, Kenneth and Mildred Overpeck.

Cremation was chosen with a visitation at Waterman Baptist Church, 8540 W State Road 234, Kingman on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 3:00pm till the time of the memorial service at 5:00pm with Pastor John Goldfuss officiating.
