Mrs. Carole J. Burkart, age 78, of rural Crawfordsville, IN. passed away at her home on October 9, 2018. Carole was born on November 114, 1939 at Crawfordsville, IN. the daughter of David and Ruth (nee: Lovell) Middleton, the second of two children. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Crawfordsville High School.
Carole first married William Charles Bair and the later divorced. She then married Robert Burkart on June 30, 1976 and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2006. Carole formerly worked at Essex Wire in Lafayette and then took a job in maintaining the lab equipment and supplies in the Chem Lab at Elli Lilly and Co. in Lafayette from which she retired. Carole was an avid lover of pets and had been a breeder of Chihuahua's for a number of years and devoted her days to caring for her dogs.
Carole is survived by her two children, son; Rusty Bair of Crawfordsville, IN. and daughter; Cheryl Taylor of Crawfordsville, IN. She is also survived by 3 nephews and 2 nieces to whom she was very close; Mike, Paul and Kevin Middleton and Linda Siggins all of Crawfordsville, IN. and Karen Waldon of Ripley, TN. Carole will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Tamra (husband Jason) Orlea of Alamo, IN., Jeffery Taylor and Emily Taylor both of Crawfordsville, IN. and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Henry Middleton, husband Robert and 2 infant sons.
The family will receive visitors at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd., Waynetown, IN. on Sunday October 14th from 2:00pm to 6:00 pm, after which cremation will take place and Carole's ashes will be privately scattered. Those who wish to, are encouraged to make donations to the St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, South Dakota 57326, in Carole's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
