Carole Ann (Brown) Root

Carole Ann Root passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 7, 2023 at home in Cayuga. She was born on April 20, 1947 to Julia (Collier) Brown. Carole was later adopted by James "JR" Brown.

Carole was married to Charles "Willie" Root for 20 years, until his passing on September 7, 2022. She worked for Holiday Inn in Terre Haute, Chicago and Atlanta in guest services and later as Catering Director. Carole loved working with Willie at his bar, "Willie's Place Bar" in Cayuga. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 263. She loved bird watching, traveling and buying souvenir t-shirts on her travels.

Carole is survived by her son, Andy (Juli) Root of Covington; 3 daughters, Missy (Tim) Coleman of Rockville, Teresa (CJ) Liggett of Newtown, and Amy (Tom) Nowicki of Inverness, FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her good friend, Sam Dudley; and caretaker, June Adams. She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and extended family.

Cremation was chosen with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to Willie at Thomas Cemetery, outside of Newport. Share memories and condolences at www.SanderFuneralCare.com.
