Mrs. Carolyn Sue Nicholls, 67, Darlington, passed away Sunday, April 19th, at 7:21 PM, in the Witham Memorial Hospital, Lebanon. She was born December 20th, 1947, in Crawfordsville, to Leland, Sr. and Elsie Lucille (Geiger) Axsom. She married Rodney H. "Nick" Nicholls on June 20th, 1987, in Crawfordsville. He survives.
Mrs. Nicholls had done factory work but spent most of her life as a Homemaker. She attended New Market Schools; had attended the Fremont Street Baptist Church and was currently a member of the One Way Apostolic Pentecostal Church; and enjoyed collecting Angels, Coke Memorabilia, and making afghans.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Cynthia (Charles) Wilson an Michelle (David) Laflen, both of Crawfordsville; Timothy (Kim) Melvin and Michael (Tammy) Melvin, both of Lake Holiday; 6 step-children; sisters: Kathy VanCleave, New Ross; Norma Heater and Lenna (Bob) Mings, both of Crawfordsville; Pat (Jr.) Ward, Whitesville; Martha (Barry) Cowell, Indianapolis; brothers: Terry (Lisa) Cooksey, Ladoga; and Rex (Diane) Cooksey, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Leland, Jr. and Robert E. Axsom; and sister: Mary Ann Cooksey.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, April 23rd, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Clarence Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon until the service time.
