Mr. Charles E. "Charlie" Caldwell, 89, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 16, at 5:15 AM. He was born August 4, 1924, in Crawfordsville, to Carl and Louise (Pointer) Caldwell. He married Estis Irene Faust, on May 29, 1943, in Crawfordsville. She survives.
Mr. Caldwell was retired from Mid States Wire after 36 years of employment. After retirement he was a Porter for Cummins GMC and Horners Buick GMC. He attended Crawfordsville schools; was a WW II U S Army Air Corps Veteran; member of the Crawfordsville VFW and American Legion Posts; member of the Montgomery #50 Masonic Lodge; and attended St. Paul Community Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Courtney (David) Hunter, and Suzzy (Boyd) Caldwell-Peck, both of Crawfordsville. Also surviving are his brothers: Richard (Beverly) Caldwell, Waveland; Harley Caldwell, Lafayette; his sister: Rose Hall, Crawfordsville; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 1 honorary grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and 1 great grandchild.
Family services and burial were held Tuesday, February 18, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home and Mace Community Cemetery, with Rev. Clayton Kendall officiating. Memorials may be made to: Serenity Hospice, 5 N. 10th St., Lafayette, IN 47901.
