Charles E. Crispin, 79, Monticello, IN, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, February 27, at the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare at 9:00 PM. He was born August 6, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Charles and Vivian V. (Gibson) Crispin. He married Doris E. Wilson in 1970 in Crawfordsville. She survives.

Mr. Cripsin was a 1949 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis. He worked at L S Ayres Department Store, Indianapolis, from 1948 until 1951. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1955 where he was stationed at Walker AFB, Roswell, New Mexico and attained the rank of Staff Sargent. After his military discharge he was employed by RR Donnelleys in the CMP Department. He retired in April of 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post 72, Crawfordsville; 40 & 8; Eagles Lodge, Crawfordsville; Amvets, Monticello. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and feeding and observing the wildlife in the Lake Shafer area.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: Garry S. (Karen) Crispin, Crawfordsville; and Judith L. (Rodney) Jenkins, New Ross. Also 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie A. Turpin, and his parents.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 5, at 3:30 PM at the Oak HIll North Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Friends may call at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St, Crawfordsville, Saturday, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Military graveside will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW Posts of Crawfordsville.
