Mr. Chester James "Jake" Fox, 82, New Market, passed away Thursday,January 18th, 2018, in the Franciscan Health Hospital of Crawfordsville. He was born in St. Francisville, Illinois, to James Alfred and Mary (Cogdill) Fox.He married Elizabeth Irene Carter onDecember 21st, 1956, in Vincennes. She survives. Mr. Fox worked in sales his whole life and never met a stranger. He was a member of the New Market Christian Church and was very active in church until his health failed. He served as a Deacon, Elder,SundaySchool Teacher, and drove the church van. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1953 until 1957. Jake's heart was with his family, and his grandchildren were the lights of his life. He was an inspiration ; a role model; and was bold about his faith in God. Inaddition to his wife, he is survived by hisdaughters: Mary (Roger) Towell, Veedersburg; and Darlene (Rodney) Servies, New Market. Alsosurviving are his brothers: Monty Fox, St. Francisville, Illinois; Ron Fox, Missouri; his sisters: Linda Kohlhause, St Francisville; Jane Hensley, St. Francisville; Betsy Hershey, Allendale, Illinois; grandchildren: Rachel (Chad) Scott; Adam (Tirica) Skelton; Kristian (Ryan Loy) Servies; John Servies; step-granddaughter: Amanda (Jake) Bohlen;great-grandchildren: Carter Scott; Franklin Skelton; Logan and Joshua Rosenbaum; step-great-grandchildren: Olson and Anna Bohlen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother: Sam Fox. Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service being held on Sunday,January 21st. at 3:00 PM, in the New Market Christian Church, 300 S. Third St., NewMarket, with Rev. Gary Snowden officiating. The family will greet friends at the church onSundayfrom 1:00 PM until the service time. Memorials in Jake's memory may be made to the New Market Christian Church, PO Box 356, New Market, IN 47965.
