Mr. Clarence Joshua Harlan Jr., age 87, formerly of Waynetown, IN passed away at 7:07pm Friday March 14th 2014 at the St. Vincent Heart Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
Jr was born on January 16, 1927 at Waynetown the son of Clarence J. and Ella Harper Harlan. He graduated from Waynetown High School and then joined the US Coast Guard during WWII. When the Korean War came about he also served in the US Army and was very proud to have been a double veteran. Jr retired as a custodiun from AT&T in Crawfordsville, In. and had been currently residing in "The Hearth at Tudor Gardens" in Zionsville, In. He had previously lived for 7 years at Whitlock House in Crawfordsville, IN.
Jr is survived by his niece Mrs. Patricia (husband-Ron) Beck of Zionsville, IN. 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews, 5 great great nieces and 3 great great nephews. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Rev. George Smith of Crawfordsville, In. and many very very close friends whom he considered as family.
Funeral services for Jr Harlan will be held at 12 noon Tuesday March 18th at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd. Waynetown, IN. with Rev. George Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am Tuesday until the services. Millitary honors will be provided by theAmerican Legion and the VFW.
