Clarence Olden Shrum, 82, Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of North Salem, Indiana, passed away July 12, 2010 at 6:30 PM in the Brookwood Hospital, Birmingham. He was born December 22, 1927 in Galatin, Tennessee to James W. and Annie M (Hutchinson) Shrum. He was a retired machinist having worked for 25 years at the Schwitzer Company, Indianapolis, Indiana. He also had a vegatable stand at the intersection of Highways 421 and 32 on the northside of Indianapolis. He was known as the "Veggie Man". He married Runnell Grace Bushong December 29, 1981 in Galatin, Tennessee. She preceeded him in death on April 5, 2010.
He is survived by two daughters; Sheila Gibson, Birmingham, AL and Linda Bone-Stoll, Las Vegas, NV. Also one brother; Fred W. Shurm and one sister, Selma Shrum, and 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Powers Priebe Funeral Home, on July 16th, 2010, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Services were held at Powers Priebe Funeral Home, on July 17th at 2:00pm. with burial at the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market, Indiana. Rev. Everett Davenport officiated the services.
