Lucille Groce,96, of Crawfordsville, In. passed away at 7:40 pm Wednesday December 14,2016 at Williamsburg Health Care.

Mrs. Groce was born July 4, 1920, at Sylvia, Tennessee, the daughter of Clarence Mathis and Silla Edwards Mathis. They are deceased. She married Thomas Joel Groce July 1936 at Gorman Tennessee. He died October 17, 1981.

Surviving family include two sons, Clarence (Mary Ann) Groce of Mooresville, NC and Gary (Alice) Groce of Crawfordsville, IN. Granddaughters, Melissa (John) Ratcliff and Michelle (Matt) Hayden, Grandson. Bryan (Stephanie) Groce. Four great-grandchildren, Kyle Potter, Ellen Groce, Kenny and Kelly Hayden, and a great-great-grandchild, Jalen.

She is preceded in death by five sisters, Margaret, Christine, Julia, Carolyn and Wilma. One brother, Clarence and a grandson, Gary Jr.

Lucille retired from Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital (Culver Hospital). She was employed with the hospital for 43 years. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church where she was involved in the Waynetown Baptist Mission and Ladies aid Society, Freedom Baptist Association and American Baptist Womens Ministries.

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Thursday December 22, 2016 at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton rd. Waynetown, In. with pastors Ron Raffingone and Dorman Winger officiating.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon Thursday and continue until the time of the service 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, In. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waynetown Baptist church.
