Mr. Dale C. Blanchard, 93, passed away Friday, June 21, a 3:33 PM, in the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He had lived in Crawfordsville for the past 8 years; had lived in Tacoma, Washington for several years; and Las Vegas, Nevada for 30 years. He was born November 21, 1919, in Barber, Kansas, to Harry and Annabelle (Houston) Blanchard. He had been married three times and all of his wives preceded him in death.
Mr. Blanchard left home at the age of 7 to work for others. He made it through the 10th grade of school; joined the U S Navy building ships during WW II; owned his own saw mill in Washington state; was an electrician by trade, having worked on the Alaskan Pipe Line and in some nuclear plants; and was a 55 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He is survived by his son: Greg (Pam) Blanchard, Crawfordsville; granddaughter: Allyson Blanchard (fiance'-Mike Largent ), Crawfordsville; great grandchildren: Nancy, Nick, Isabella, and Ryan. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Leonard, Skeet, and Cyril.
Cremation was selected without any local services. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date in the Mountain View Cemetery, Tacoma, Washington. Memorials may be sent to: The Animal Welfare League, 1104 Big Four Arch Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
