Mr. Daniel Gene Davis, 85, Crawfordsville, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 30th, at 2:50 PM in the Whitlock House. He was born in Montgomery County on February 28th, 1929, to Henry Irvin and Vivian Mae (Stamper) Davis. He married Audrey Lou Shelton on November 26th, 1950, in Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death on April 16th, 2013.

Mr. Davis had worked at H.C. Industries (Alcoa CSI), for 25 years, retiring in 1994. He previously worked at Raybestos Products and Sommer Metalcraft. He attended Crawfordsville Schools; was a U.S. Air Force Veteran; was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church since 1955, where he served as Head Usher for several years as well as serving as an Elder; he was a "Red Coat" volunteer at St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital; and was active delivering "Meals on Wheels".

He is survived by his children: Pamela Kay (Lindsey) Abney, Crawfordsville; Stacey Luann (Charlie) Graham, Veedersburg; and Daniel Ray (Lorraine) Davis, Kokomo. Also surviving is his sister: Imogene Tabor, Denver, Colorado; grandchildren: Brad (Donna) Abney, Matt (Tami) Abney, Christine Fernandez, all of Crawfordsville; Heather (Kevin) Lynch, Kokomo; Addison Graham, Veedersburg; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Georgia Swank and Irene Lane; and his grandsons: Jeremy Abney and Rodney Terry.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, September 4th, at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1414 E. Wabash Ave., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Steve Shank officiating. Burial will follow with Military Rites conducted by the U S Air Force and the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Honor Guard in the Oak Hill South Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Powers-Priebe Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church
