Mr. Danne "Joe" Melvin age 75, of Ladoga, In. passed away at Franciscan Health emergency room, Crawfordsville, In. on Wednesday morning November 30th. Joe was born on July 11, 1941 at Anderson, In. The son of Howard and Grace Elizabeth Bayless Melvin. Joe grew up in the Alamo area and graduated from Alamo High school before attending college in Columbus, Ga. Joe was a self employed trucker through out his adult life and was a huge Purdue fan. He loved to discuss sports with family and friends especially anything about Purdue or IU and politics was also a favorite topic of debate.
Joe is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Mike) Hohenstein of Veedersburg, In. one brother: Max (Mary) Melvin of Crawfordsville, In. one sister: Mona (Richard) Clouse of Crawfordsville, In. and a sister-in-law Bonnie Melvin of Zionsville, In. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cindi Duncan, brother Mike Melvin, sister Sharon Melvin and nephew Bradley Clouse.
Funeral services for Joe will be held at 2:00pm Monday December 5, 2016 at Shoemaker Funeral Home 202 Bratton Rd., Waynetown, In. with Rev. Mike Hohenstein officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12 noon until the services at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the Alamo Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Covington Christian School, 515 Sixth St, Covington, In. 47932.
