David W. Baker, age 86 of Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Lane House. He was born on September 26, 1938 to the late Ernst and Helen (Morris) Baker in Frankfort, Indiana. David married Mary Ann Enlow on June 26, 1958 in Boca Raton, Florida.
He was a graduate of New Market High School, Class of 1956. David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a musician, playing Taps during Funeral Honors. He worked for Fleetwood as an Assistant Production Manager and Mid States Wire, where he assisted in establishing their plant in Mississippi. David continued his career as a machinist at CSI Closures in Crawfordsville, first retiring at age 65, but three weeks later returned for another 13 years before ultimately retiring at age 78.
David loved the Lord and was a member of Whitesville Christian Church. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and also supportive of his nephew, Clint, during his 4-wheel races. A talented musician, Dave played a variety of instruments, including drums, trumpet, piano, clarinet and even the banjo, which he played during a quiet evening on the front porch. One of his great musical accomplishments was playing the drums during the Rose Bowl.
David is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; sister, Mona (Don) Krise; nephew, Clint Anderson; and a daughter.
