Mr. David R. Ellis, 78, Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, January 3rd, in Indianapolis. He was born July 9th, 1936, in Peoria, Illinois, to Clyde and Mildred E. (Dickerson) Ellis. He married Rosanna "Rosie" Miller on July 17th, 1959 in Terre Haute. She survives.

Mr. Ellis was an Environmental and Safety Engineer for HC Industries/Crown Cork & Seal of Crawfordsville from 1970 to his retirement in 2005. He was a 1954 graduate of Wiley High School, Terre Haute, and received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1958. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, Crawfordsville, where he served as a Deacon and an "Awana" leader. In his free time he enjoyed reading, following the stock market, and traveling with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Deborah (Juan) Ellis Suarez, Walnut Cove, NC; Brian (Kimberly) Ellis, Houston, TX; and Michael (Juli) Ellis, Fishers, IN. Also surviving is his brother: Richard (Sue) Ellis, Kettering, OH. grandchildren: Nathan and Nicholas Moore; Melissa Berlanga; Douglas, Amanda, Bethany, Kerianne, and Michael J. Ellis; great grandchildren: Olivia and David Moore; Lily Ellis; and Nathaniel Berlanga. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Alan C. Ellis.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10th, at the Eastside Baptist Church, 2000 E. Traction Rd., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Steve Whicker officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the service time. A Graveside Committal Service will be be held on Saturday at 3:00 PM in the Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute. Memorials may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church. Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements
