David Ireland

David J. Ireland, age 84 of Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at home. He was born on September 14, 1940 to William and Olive (Holladay) Ireland in Danville, IL. David married Twilia Steele Ireland in December of 1982, spending 22 loving years together until her passing in 2004. He became an additional father to Twila's seven children during their marriage.

David was a graduate of Wallace High School, Class of 1958. He proudly served in the United States Army and the Indiana Army National Guard. David worked with the maintenance team at Impex Industries before working part time at Walmart, building bicycles and floor displays for the store. He was a member of the Eagles and former member of Wallace Lutheran Church. David enjoyed hunting and gun collecting and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. At home, he would be found tinkering on his collection of wheel horse tractors.

David is survived by three children, Richard (Linda) Steele, Georgiana (John) Nelsen, and Donna (David) Rice; and will be missed by his several grandchildren and great grandchildren, too numerous to mention by name.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Twila; and children, Jane Wright, Jim Steele, Gary Steele and Peggy Lowe.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville.
