Mr. David F. Rush, age 94, of Waynetown, IN. joined his Lord and family members in Heaven on Thursday June 8, 2017 while a patient at Franciscan Health, Crawfordsville, IN. David was born at New Richmond, In. on December 21, 1922 to Gerald A. and Ellen Murphy Rush. He graduated from Waynetown High School and then joined the US Army Air Corps and served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe during WW II attaining the rank of Sgt. During his service he married Maxine Schenck, also a Waynetown resident who was serving in the Army Nurse Corps. After the war David and Maxine set up their home on a farm near Waynetown and raised their family. David was a member of the Christian Union church of Waynetown, the VFW and American Legion of Crawfordsville and a 50+ year member of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge. Though farming was his number one interest he occasionally did some woodworking and he and Maxine spent a few winters in Florida.
David is survived by two sons: Gary L. (Jody) Rush of Covington, IN. and Warren J. (Cecilia) Rush of Waynetown, IN. and his daughter-in-law Vicki A. Rush of Waynetown, In. He is also survived by his half brother: Fred (Annalee) Pittman of Crawfordsville, IN. He will be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Wayne and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services for David Rush will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday June 13, 2017 at Shoemaker Funeral Home with Mel Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4;00pm until 8:00 pm with Masonic rites conducted at 8:00pm. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the "Wayne Rush Scholarship Fund" through the Montgomery County community Foundation. envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
