Mr. David Lewis Thompson, 92, Crawfordsville, passed away on Friday at Noon at The Williamsburg Healthcare. He was born March 22, 1919, in Montgomery County, to Leo Leighton and Pearl Dean (Reynolds) Thompson. He married Martha Jean Todd on September 24, 1938, in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Thompson was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church; a 1937 graduate of Crawfordsville High School, where he played forward on the basketball team that went to the state finals. In his free time he enjoyed working in his garden and following basketball.

He is survived by his children: Stephen J. (Ruthanne) Thompson, Crawfordsville; Brian D. Thompson, Cutler, Indiana; Nancy (Robert) Achterberg, Spokane, Washington. Also surviving are two brothers: Leo L. (Betty) Thompson, Mace, Indiana and Tom (Evelyn) Thompson, Tangier, Indiana: grandchildren: Todd (Julie) Thompson; David (Julia) Thompson; Rachel (Darren) Jensen; Andy (Alesha) Thompson; Charity (Rick) Jeffs; Amy (Dave) Taylor; Cory (Jen) Thompson; 34 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon Thompson; sisters, Geraldine Coover and Mary Catherine Albin.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 27, at 3:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1086 N. - 125 W., Crawfordsville, with Bishop Stephen Thompson conducting. Friends may call at the church on Sunday, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Burial will be held at a later date at the Freedom Cemetery, near Waveland.
