Delbert Ray Dowell

Mr. Delbert Ray Dowell, 64, Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, August 27th, at 10:16 PM in the St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born June 18th, 1952,in Crawfordsville, to James and Lorene (Jones) Dowell. He married Roberta K. "Bertie" Harwood on July 18th, 1998, in Crawfordsville. She survives.

Delbert had worked at Mid-States Wire for 18 years and also made jewelry. He attended Woodland Heights Christian Church; attended Crawfordsville Schools; was a big IU fan; and in his free time enjoyed fishing, hunting, and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Tiara (Jay) Vanlue; Roxana Morgan; Vorina "Peb" McDonald, all of Crawfordsville; his sons: Josh (Molly) Dowell, Lafayette; and Israel (Kalyn) Dowell, Glenwood, Iowa. Also surviving are his sisters: Linda Rogers, Kentucky; Anna Stonebraker, New Market; Wanda Cooper, Linden; Leda (Mike) Rossi, Waveland; his brothers: Robert (Vicki) Dowell, Kentucky; David (Kelly) Dowell, Crawfordsville; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces; and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Israel David; and his brother: Donnie Dowell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, September 1st, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Wilke officiating. Cremation will follow funeral services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the service time.
