Delores Zachary

Mrs. Delores M. Zachary, 90, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, October 29, at 5:03 AM, in Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health of Crawfordsville. She was born August 31, 1922, in Wingate, to Ernest and Elsie (Wood) Smith. She first married Charles Fruits in May, 1945. He preceded her in death in May, 1973. She then married Lloyd L. Zachary, June 6, 1974, in New Richmond. He preceded her in death in November 2002.

Mrs. Zachary was a homemaker and had worked at Home Hospital; Duncan Electric, Lafayette, during WW II; and had worked in the Auditing Department at the Lafayette Sears Store. She was a 1940 Graduate of Wingate High School; member of the New Richmond and Trinity United Methodist Churches; Calvary Chapel; New Richmond Order of the Eastern Star; Pink Lady; and was a great cook.

She is survived by her children: Rita Fruits, Crawfordsville; Melinda (Ed) Sutherlin, Crawfordsville; Karen (Steve) Whitaker, South Bend; Tamara (David) Hole, Rosedale; Jeff (Dawn) Zachary, Crawfordsville; and Christopher C. (Anne) Zachary, Marshall. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: George and Marion Smith; sister: Capitola Wills; an great grandson: Zachary Turner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 31, at Noon, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Revs. David Hole, Chris Rennick, and Bill Shalk officiating. Burial will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10:00 AM until Noon.
