Dona L. Phillips

Mrs. Dona L. Phillips, age 98, of Waynetown, passed away at 4:50 pm Sunday November 9th at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital East, Lafayette, In. Dona was born on December 16, 1915 at Woodville, West Virginia the daughter of Otto and Essa (nee: McClure) Pauley. She graduated from Griffithville High School in West virginia then married Joseph Wesley Phillips on June 1, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1975. While her most important work was as a wife and mother she and her husband started and ran the Phillips and Deaton upholstery shop out of their garage in Waynetown. Dona was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, the Maple Grove Home Ec. club, the american Legion Auxillary, the VFW Ladies Auxillary and the Waynetown Grandma's club. She started hand quilting as a child and continued to quilt her entire life. She also loved to read and paint.

Dona is survived by her sons: Bobby Jo (Judy) of Crawfordsville, IN.; Thomas A. (Carolyn) of Dardanville, Arkansas; Randy H. (Lisa Matricia) of Waynetown, In.; Guy W. (Mary) Phillips of Covington, In. and stepson Joseph (Lillian) Phillips of Sanford, NC. Daughters: Nancy L. (james) Harvey of Santa Barbara, CA. Pansy L. Hubbard of Grand Junction, CO and Gloria A. (Toby) Craft of Darlington, IN. She is also survived brothers Otto Pauley Jr. of Allen Creek, WV. and Aurthur (Ida) Pauley of Sumerco, WV; Sisters Helen Moore of Ocalla, FL. Virginia Iris Lewis of Belle, WV. and Emma White of Crosby, TX. She has 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, daughter Bonnie Goff and 2 grandchildren.

Dona passed quietly surrounded by loving members of her immediate family. She was on this earth for nearly 100 years and she was a gentle loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmothers. She left this life to walk in heaven with Joe, Bonnie, Jimmy and Scott and the other family members who have gone on ahead. She will be missed by the many who's lives she enriched with her sweet gentle smile.

Funeral services for Dona will be held at 2:00pm Friday November 14th at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd. Waynetown with the Rev.'s Dorman Winger and Duane Mycroft officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetry, Wingate, In. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 noon until the services.
