Donald Grimes

Donald B. Grimes, 90, of Crawfordsville, passed away at 9:03 AM Thursday, August 12th, 2010, at the Lane House Nursing Home, Crawfordsville. He was born March 21, 1920 in Shannondale, IN the son of Joseph A. and Goldie S. (Beebe) Grimes. He married Mabel (Cheek) in Elmdale, IN on August 29, 1942. She survives.

Mr. Grimes retired after 41 years at RR Donnelleys Printing Co., Crawfordsville, IN. While there he worked in the shipping, warehouse, and traffic departments. He graduated from New Ross High School in 1938 where he had played basketball. He was a WW II U S Army Veteran and a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Post #72. He was also a member of the Christ's United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. He enjoyed square dancing and loved the Cubs, Yankees, Pacers, and Purdue sports.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Keith (wife-Karen) Grimes, New Market, IN; daughters: Diana (husband-Dennis) Zimmerman, Ft. Wayne, IN; Nancy (husband-Jeff) Hopper, Jamestown, IN. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by a son, Kevin; brothers, Wayne, Walter, and Bob Grimes; sisters: Esther and Wanda Grimes, Vera Quigg, Kathleen Sowers, and Maugarite Linn.

Visitation to be held at Powers Priebe Funeral Home, on Saturday, August 14th, 2010, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.

Service to be held at Powers Priebe Funeral Home, on Sunday, August 15th at 2:00pm., with Rev. Chris Rennick officiating.
