MR. Donald L. Hargis, 79, Parkersburg, passed away at 6:50 AM Thursday, November 28, in The Gathering Together Home for the Terminally Ill in Plainfield. He was born August 19, 1934, in Crawfordsville, to Everett and Thelma (Todd) Hargis. He married Phyllis M. Scott on February 13, 1953 in Greencastle. She survives.
Mr. Hargis retired from Mid States after 42 years. He was a 1952 graduate of New Market High School; was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church; served in the Army National Guard in Crawfordsville; was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Post #72; loved to mow his yard and do gardening; and was a Chicago Cubs and NASCAR fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Debbie (Steve) Delano, Danville; Jim (Sherry) Hargis, Parkersburg; Carol Perkins, Crawfordsville; Beverly (Mark) Delano, New Richmond; Donald Hargis, Crawfordsville; his brother: Dick Hargis, Crawfordsville; 10 great grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Jackie Dean Hargis; sister: Wilma Jean Bullock; grandson: Matthew Delano; and son-in-law: Jim Perkins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Monday, December 2, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Rich Fuller officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Russellville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, December 1, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
