Donald Lee Nowling

Mr. Donald "Don" Nowling of Waynetown passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening March 20th at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health Hospital, Crawfordsville, IN. Don was born December 3, 1936 at Mecca, IN. the son of Frank and June (nee, Wann) Nowling. He graduated from Mecca High School 1954 and joined the US Navy serving stateside from 1954 to 1958. Don then married Karen Prather on March 1, 1964 and they recently celebrated their 55th anniversary. He was a member of the Waynetown Christain Church, and the former Waynetown Masonic Lodge and the current Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Donnelley Club and had retired as a production coordinator from R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Crawfordsville, IN. His family jokes that he was a member of the Waynetown lawn mowing club because he would help anyone around town who might need a hand with lawn chores or any other chore. His hobby was serving others.

Don is survived by his wife, Karen Nowling of Waynetown, In. and sons Bradely (wife-Missy) Nowling of Crawfordsville, In. and Brian (wife - Sabrina) of Ft. Collins, CO. and his very much loved grandchildren, Jordan Nowling, Kaylee Hodges and Colten Nowling. Don is also survived by 3 brothers, John Nowling of Mecca, IN. and Kenny and Karl Nowling of Indianapolis, In.  Also 1 sister Mary Jane (husband Gerald) McDowell of Mecca, IN. and his borther-in-law and sister-in-law Gaylord and Ruthann Prather of Waynetown, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Arthur S. and Joe Nowling.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday March 27th at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd. Waynetown, In. and officiated by Rev. Dorman Winger. burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville, In. The family will receive guest from 10 am until the services at 2:00 pm Wednesday.
