Doris Mildred VanHook

January 30, 1932 — November 8, 2020

Mrs. Doris M. VanHook, age 88, formerly of near Wallace, IN. passed away at Franciscan Health-East, in Lafayette on Sunday evening November 8th.  Doris had recently moved to assisted living at Wellbrook Health care in Crawfordsville after residing north east of Wallace where she and her late husband had raised their family. She was born on January 30, 1932 at Crawfordsville, In. the daughter of Paul and Lucille E. (Gobel) Nunan and graduated from Crawfordsville High School.  Doris was a dedicated homemaker who raised a garden, worked cross word puzzles and enjoyed sewing and crocheting for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She married Thomas M. Van Hook on June 8m 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2006. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents, son Paul VanHook, brother Kenneth Nunan and sisters Beverly Myers & Irene Roche.

Doris is survived by her children, Tim & Bonnie Van Hook, Murfreesboro, TN; Jerry & Sherri Van Hook, Hillsboro, IN.; Brenda & Steve Leffert, West Lafayette, IN.; Diana & Russ Lemmons, Weaver, Alabama; Millie Van Hook, Louisville, KY and Pam & Ron Scott of Idaho. She is also survived by her brother Robert & Marilyn Nunan, Trafalgar, IN.; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

In consideration of Covid 19, Doris will have a private family service with burial at Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. The family suggest that memorial donations go to the Wallace Christian Church, 2415 Lutheran church Rd., Hillsboro, In. 47949, or to Franciscan Health Foundation, Palliative Care, 1501 Hartford St., Lafayette, IN. 47905
