Dorothy Louise West

Mrs. Dorothy Louise West, age 95, passed away on Thursday afternoon September 15th at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Crawfordsville, In.

Dorothy was born on July 18, 1921 at Crawfordsville, In. the daughter of William Bryant Coombs and Ruth Mae Miller Coombs Linn. She was educated in the Crawfordsville School system having attended the old Horris Mann elementary school and Crawfordsville High School. She married Gerald William West in 1936 and he passed away in february 1998. Dorothy was a hard working helpmate, mother, grand mother who worked as a cook at the Coal Creek Elementary school, Northridge Middle school and at times had owned "Westie's" at Wingate,In. and the West Cafe at New Richmond, In. She was a member of the New Market Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Crawfordsville, VFW Ladies Aux.

Dorothy is survived by her children, James and wife June West of Crawfordsville,IN.; Dianne Wilcox of Linden, IN.; Kathy Billingsley of Crawfordsville, IN.and Ruth and husband Ralph Brown of Waveland, In. She was also Grandma to 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 51 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandson. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, husband, 4 sisters, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter and a great great grandson.

Funeral services for Dorothy L. West will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, In. with Steve Trent officiating. The family will receive guest from 12 noon until the services on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
