Mr. Edward C. Howard, 84, Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, April 9th, at 9:37 AM, in the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born February 4th, 1932, in Mudlick, Kentucky, to Malcolm C. and Bessie O. (Page) Howard. He was married for 62 years to Elda Lou Davidson, having married on March 5th, 1951, in Railton, Kentucky. She preceded him in death on May 11th, 2013.
Mr. Howard was a Truck Driver for 26 years having retired in 1994 from R&D Transport in Clermont, Indiana. He also drove for Refiners Transport, Clermont, and also farmed. He was a member of the Englewood Church of Christ; attended schools in Whitesville and Wingate; was a Pilot, having received his Commercial and Instrument Ratings; was a Master Gardener; and in his free time enjoyed cutting wood and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Carolyn (Joseph) Sowder, Indianapolis; Anita (Rick) Oliver, Columbianna, Alabama; James (Deann) Howard, Crawfordsville; Mark (Valerie) Howard, Crawfordsville; Brian (Tammie) Howard, Villa Rica, Georgia; and Timothy (Laurie) Howard, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are his brothers: James C. (Ruby) Howard, Crawfordsville; Jesse Howard, Crawfordsville; Larry (Alma) Page, Logansport; his sister: Ruth Cordes, Crawfordsville; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister: Helen Howard; his brother: Junior Howard; an infant grandson and infant great-grandson; and his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 13th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Pastor Robert Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Mace Community Cemetery.
