Emery Niels Rasmussen

Mr. Emery Niels Rasmussen, age 93,passed away Sunday evening June 1st, 2014 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Born on April 26, 1921 at Rantoul, IL. he was the son of Rasmus P. and Hanna Johanna Rasmussen and attended school in East Lynn, IL.
Emery was a lifetime farmer in the Romney, IN. and retired in 1994 and moved to Greensburg, IN. where he worked as a Walmart greeter.
He first married Matilda Butterworth and they had five children and later divorced. Emery was also married to Jacqueline Alverson Rasmussen who preceded him in death in 2006.
Survivor include sons: Emery N. Rasmussen Jr. of Monticello, IN. and Gerald L. (Sue) Rasmussen of Crawfordsville, IN. daughters: Charlotte A.Hubbard and Debra S. Brown of Crawfordsville, In. 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildrn and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday June 4th at Shoemaker Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until the services on Wednesday.
